From here I can see Ireland's Eye

Stuff - you know... really I should just write down in a diary and burn it...

Hmm... Hungover today

Quiet time for me...

Still 10 man Manchester United beating Liverpool at Anfield... has made my pain a lot more bearable...

Back to bed for a while I think

We're just going to pretend there was a short post yesterday...

Now, this has been on my mind for a while...

The Tsunami

Terrible...

Awful, appalling pictures - of course, the poorest, suffer the most, 150,000 dead - lives washed away - truly heartbreaking...

And I've been amazed at the response from everybody - the amount of money raised in Ireland... the energy and enthusiasm is fantastic...

But...

Yesterday I saw Ricky Martin touring around the disaster area - followed by a Sky News camera crew...

Ok... Why?

What exactly can Ricky "La Vida Loca" Martin offer?

Fine - let him donate money... maybe put on a gig - though I can't even begin to imagine who would buy tickets... But what in the name of Jaysus is he doing wandering around, getting in the way of the people who are either

a) trying to cope with an enormous natural disaster
or
b) trying to help out the people who survived this enormous natural disaster?

Is he trying to raise awareness? Emm... I think we're good for the whole awareness thing... Thanks Ricky...

Then, I saw a picture in the paper of Arnold Schwarzenegger flying over the disaster zone in a helicopter... Again... Why?

Throw him out of the helicopter and use the space to bring food, water and medicine...

Thanks...

Ok... Day 4

Feeling good... ready to take on the Blogging World...

Firstly... Team America - hilarious... went to a preview screening last night and laughed so loud and so often I embarassed the people I was with... that's me, always a winner in social situations...

Anyway, tonight what is exercising my mind is "The Race against Waste"...

For my international readers... (hell, if I have readers at all, its a shock, frankly - never mind fancy foreign visitors...)

As I was saying... here in Ireland we have (about ten years after the rest of the world) woken up to the idea of recycling most of our crap instead of burying it in a landfill or burning it. Woohoo. Isn't Ireland great, etc...

But, the ad campaign for what is called "The Race against Waste" hilariously is a Cross Border effort - part of the complicated new politics of peace - so, there is a "celebrity" from Northern Ireland... and a "celebrity" from Southern Ireland...

They star in what may be one of the worst set of commercials of all time...

That is not the point however...

In a campaign which is titled "Race against Waste" Ireland, North and South appear to have selected two of the least healthy, unecologically friendly people you could imagine...

A dumpy, middle aged (i'm being kind) woman from the North who's claim to fame is starring in what is officially the World's Least Funny Sitcom and some fat gardener who is "Famous in England". Let's just say if it really is a Race against Waste - We are Fucked...

Why we couldn't have selected any of our drugged up athletes - or Ireland's Only Formula One Driver Eddie Irvine (who, frankly, is not that busy) - I do not know..

In short - our waste campaign - is garbage

Ok, It's Day two of the "Must post more often" Resolution...

So, here it is... another post

Wow, this is so easy...

I'm already ahead of that 12 year old in Kansas who writes about her damn goldfish ever single fricking day...

Anyway, Roll on Tomorrow and Post 4!

Woohoo

So, I'm starting again... One post in three years does not make me a prolific blogger by anyone's standards... This much I am aware of...

So, must try harder - spend less time drinking, smoking, watching stupid tv - and more time doing things... like posting, or finishing the novel, or getting out there and making new friends... well, maybe more posting, some drinking and talking about the novel...

It's a start...
